Spec the hardware today. Keep getting better software after the truck leaves the plant. No extra brain box. No pulling fixtures off the apparatus. The same lights you ordered last year can do more this year.
As of August 27, every HiViz Connect fixture is shipping with firmware v1.1.4. That update is already on new product leaving our dock. On trucks already in the field, it installs through the Field Support Tool, fixtures stay mounted.
What’s new in v1.1.4
Water level indicator
Tank status, right where the operator already lives. Less guessing. Faster decisions. The lighting system can now carry water-level information so the crew isn’t hunting a separate gauge when the scene is already moving.
Command stacking
Run multiple commands at the same time, Aux Scene and E-Master, for example, instead of fighting the system one function at a time. Lighting should follow how crews actually work, not force them into a single-button sequence.
Traffic Director on Guardian Mini
Traffic Director is now supported on the HVC Guardian® Mini, and on all future 5-color HiViz warning lights. Rear-facing control without waiting on the next lightbar. One 5-color fixture can handle response colors, command, aux scene, and traffic direction. Same part number. Software-defined.
That last point is the inventory story departments and builders have been asking for: fewer SKUs on the shelf, more jobs per fixture, new behavior delivered as firmware.
What does not change
No secondary electrical system. No central controller to spec, mount, or replace. Intelligence lives in the fixtures. Updates move over the HiViz Connect network. The hardware you already specified keeps getting better.
That was the promise when HiViz Connect launched: spec FireTech® today and receive the latest features when the emergency vehicle is ready to ship, and after it has been in service.
Built to talk to the truck
HiViz Connect is a protocol, not a closed island. It is designed to speak to the vehicle, to the other lights on the vehicle, and to the systems crews already use.
On Pierce apparatus, that integration runs through Command Zone. Command Zone v7.28, released September 2, makes command stacking smoother and finishes the hard-button work that started in 7.27. Those are Pierce-specific refinements. The firmware features above, water level, stacking, Traffic Director on Mini and future 5-color warning lights, belong to the HVC platform and apply across HiViz Connect builds.
Same idea on every truck: spec the lights once. Keep adding capability.
